New Ideas About Jobs

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

I was reading Tim magazine the other day, and they had an article titled; “10 Ideas Changing The World Right Now.” They ranged from the “reinventing” of the highway system (about using the right-of-way for new trains and power lines) to “repurposing” of suburbs (for example, by making empty shopping malls into new town centers). The first on the list though, was about the following idea:

“Why Your Job is Your Most Valuable Asset”

It got me thinking about jobs (thinking about them is fine, but I wouldn’t want one). I even wrote a page about the topic for the site. You can find that here: New Job Ideas. The Time article had suggested that  people are beginning to cultivate their job skills and experience in the way they used to lavish attention on their retirement accounts and home equity loans. In other words they are (more…)

More Innovations

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

As you may recall, I promised to occasionally report on new ideas and products in the world. Well, I have recently read about some more innovations. The first is from Silver Spring Networks, a company that makes and installs electricity monitoring devices.

Their new electric meters do several things differently. For example, they can set up displays in houses or buildings to tell customers when electric rates are highest, so they cut back at these times. This not only saves the customer money, but in helps redistribute electricity use so that new electric plants don’t have to be built just to handle (more…)

Ideas In Action

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

Just so readers of this blog don’t think that I do nothing but dream up ideas without ever putting them to use, I’ll tell you what I am doing right now. I am putting to use the idea (not entirely my own) of giving away books to make money. I have tried similar techniques before, with some success.

I just finished writing a book on Meditation and how to use it to increase the power of one’s mind. It is called “Mind Power Meditation,” and has nine short chapters. I m not entirely sure what I will do with it in the future, but for now only  select group of people will see it - the three hundred or so (more…)

Products From Problems

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

If you visit my websites or this blog much, you probably know that I am a big believer in turning problems into invention and product ideas. I also believe that a persons life does not have to be determined by their background or previous experiences. The following short and true story demonstrates both of these ideas.

Tina Aldatz-Norris was born and raised in Fullerton, California. She dropped out of High School at age 15. Her father was in a Mexican Gang and addicted to (more…)

Our New World

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

We are in a cabin in the Wet Mountains of Colorado. Patches of snow remain unmelted from yesterdays flurries, but it is sunny and warm. A beautiful day by Lake Isabel, with high mountain cliffs looking down on us and yellow leaves blowing in the wind. Thw nearest open restaurant or store is miles away, down and out of the mountains, yet I can sit here in this bed and run our business between walks around the lake and bird watching.

This is a new and wonderful world we live in. It is easy to forget this when the economy is faltering and the stock market crashing. But look at how much has changed. (more…)

How To Do Telekinesis

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

I saw that there are people searching for “how to do telekinesis” so I had to write about it. First, I will say this: Yes, you can control things with your thoughts. But not in the way that people like to imagine. You need the addition of technology.

With a little technology, you will soon be able to turn on your television just by thinking, or open the door to your house using by mind power when your hands are full. This won’t remain science fiction for much longer. Actually, the technology necessary to make this happen is here (more…)
